Prior to the meeting Members undertook an inspection of the District which included visits to Acre Fen, Puddock and Westmoor Pumping Stations, Honeysome Road, Chatteris, Fenton Lode and Carters Bridge Farm.
Messrs James German and Mark England were appointed Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively and the Middle Level Commissioners were re-appointed as Clerk. The Finance Committee comprising The Lord de Ramsey, D W England, M P England, J German, D R Stokes, H W Whittome and S W Whittome were re-appointed.
The Middle Level Commissioners now offer employees the chance to enter into a Cycle to Work scheme. This government led scheme encourages healthy living, reducing the effective cost of buying a bike whilst also saving carbon release by encouraging employees out of their cars and onto their bikes (estimated at carbon saving 500kg per year per person).
A rate of 13.0p in the £ was set.
The Middle Level Commissioners were re-appointed as Clerk and Mr Leo Butler was re-appointed District Officer.
Prior to the meeting Members undertook an inspection of the District which included visits to the drain adjacent to Tesco’s at Point 28, New Fen Pumping Station and Upwood Common Pumping Station and Inlet Slacker.
The following rates were set:-
Area 1 – 25.00p in the £, Area 2 – 12.25p in the £.
Navigators and other waterway users should be aware the landing stage situated along Well Creek at Salters Lode, maintained by the Well Creek Trust, has been temporarily closed for public use on the grounds of Health & Safety, pending decking and sub frame repair works. Please do not attempt to use or walk on the landing stage in its current condition.
Cambridgeshire County Council Flood and Water Team are working with the Environment Agency in March and across the County and are looking for volunteers to become members of a Community Flood Group. See below for more details.
