Suspension of Navigation Notices.

Any confirmed upcoming suspensions or closures to navigation will be published on this page and via @MLC1862 on X and our Facebook page. You can also sign-up to receive a text message alert. Emergency closures will also be posted. Our News page includes navigation news items.

There are two upcoming suspensions to navigation to note.

Unfortunately, we have to extend the navigation closures on our system. The current closure of Marmont Priory Lock will be extended until 16th February 2024 and the upcoming Salter’s Lode Lock closure will aim to be lifted on the same date.

Having de-watered Marmont Priory and removed the set of gates for replacement, we’ve found that the condition of the sweeps was such that they also needed replacing and works to the hydraulic actuators and rams is more complex than originally scoped.

We are sorry for any further disruption that this causes boaters and if we can reopen the locks sooner then we will. With any works of this type over winter there is a risk of further extension to the closure given our operational resources will need to prioritise response to any further rainfall within the catchment.

Many thanks for your patience and understanding.

If you are planning to enter or exit the Middle Level navigation via Stanground Lock or Salters Lode Lock, the Environment Agency have set up online calendars to host the latest navigation closures, restrictions and/or advisory notices on the Great Ouse (inc. Tidal Gt Ouse crossing) and Nene.
