Planned Suspensions for 2026 and 2027
The following are planned suspensions to navigation in 2026 and 2027. Once date windows are confirmed a suspension notice will be published and distributed.
- Ashline Lock – Closure likely during Autumn/Winter 2026/27 to de-water the lock and inspect the structure to inform future gas replacement and associated works. This would suspend the Nene – Gt Ouse link route.
- Lodes End Lock & navigation to the west of the lock – Two closures in Spring 2027 to enable the safe removal and return of the fourth of six pumps at Bevill’s Leam Pumping Station.
Temporary Disruption – Fish Population Surveys
The Environment Agency have advised there will be temporary disruption to navigation to conduct their routine periodic fish population surveys on the River Nene (Old Course) at the sites below on the dates shown below:
| EA Site Code | Watercourse Name | Site Name | NGR | Date |
| 4882 | River Nene (Old Course) | Benwick | TL3351090934 | 16/07/26 |
| 4884 | River Nene (Old Course) | Staffurths Bridge | TL3688994706 | 22/06/26 |
They will be seine netting a section of the watercourse approx. 80m in length at each site with stop nets at each end of the section. There will be a temporary disruption to navigation whilst they have their stop nets in the water. To mitigate this they aim to be on site by around 08:00 and would likely be on site until 13:00 (depending on catch size) with stop nets in place & thus navigation temporarily disrupted until around 11:00.
