IDB Governance.
Here at the MLC, through our clerking services, we strive to ensure all the Boards we work with are governed effectively.
Whether you are a new or a long-standing board member, understanding the governance of your board and your role within it is crucially important.
The Association of Drainage Authorities have developed two governance guides which you should use as reference documents, refreshing your knowledge ahead of your Board meetings.
ADA have also developed five short videos to help bring the guide to life.
Ratepayers, developers and members of the public may also find these useful to better understand the role of an IDB and its members.
Over the past couple of years or so, the University of Hull has been working on an Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) grant-funded research project about Internal Drainage Boards. ADA has supported and been involved in the project as part of an Advisory Team.
Part of that work has involved the preparation of a documentary film about the work of IDBs which has now been completed and offered to ADA and all IDBs to use as they see fit. ADA sees this film as an excellent resource for IDBs to help inform their ratepayers about the important work they do.
